Yesterday, the provincial government announced that Toronto and Peel regions will be moved into lockdown effective Monday, November 23.
This lockdown limits non-essential businesses, however, it is our understanding that it does not currently apply to health services.
Given these new restrictions, and with Ontarians being encouraged to stay home as much as possible, optometrists will use their professional judgement when it comes to providing care.
Optometrists will continue to follow infection prevention and social distancing measures as per the College’s Return to Work guidance, which is focused on keeping patients, staff, and optometrists safe.
We trust optometrists to exercise common sense, and to continue to provide leadership in their communities.
