On April 14, 2022 the Ontario Government passed the Pandemic and Emergency Preparedness Act, 2022. This Bill requires regulatory health colleges to put in place an Emergency Class of Registration, which will help the province respond to future emergency healthcare circumstances. The deadline to forward the draft Council approved document to the Ministry of Health regarding Emergency Class of Registration is 8:30 a.m. May 1, 2023.
The College of Optometrists of Ontario’s Council met on the evening of March 2, 2023 to approve the circulation of the Emergency Class of Registration. We are now looking for feedback on the proposed amendments. This document includes track changes which reflect both the previous wording, and the proposed changes which will adhere to the new requirements. The requirements and deadlines for the new regulation are outlined in this letter from the Ministry.
A request for registrant and stakeholder feedback has been sent out asking stakeholders to submit their feedback to feedback@collegeoptom.on.ca no later than Monday, May 1, 2023 at 8:30 a.m.
