Council met on Friday, June 13, 2025, for a regularly scheduled meeting. During this meeting, Council approved six motions that were brought forward by the Audit/Finance/Risk, Quality Assurance, and Governance/Human Resources committees. Read more below:
Audit/Finance/Risk
Council approved the following motions from the Audit/Finance/Risk committee:
- Audited Financial Statements for 2024
- Reappointment of BDO Canada as the College’s auditors for 2025
- Finance Policy – Evaluation of External Auditors
Quality Assurance
Council approved the following motions from the Quality Assurance Committee:
- Updated practice assessment component of the Quality Assurance Program
- Updated Optometric Practice Reference (OPR)
Governance/Human Resources
Council approved the following motion from the Governance/Human Resources committee:
- Appointment of Drs. Manveen Bedi, Leah Markin, Karin Simon, and Harminder Singh to the Discipline Committee for the remainder of the 2025 Council year.
During the meeting, Council listened to two presentations, one regarding the College’s audited financial statements, and a research presentation from Drs. Tracey Adams and Sophia Myles who were the recipients of the College’s Regulatory Research Award in 2022.
