Ontario Emergency Order Effective April 8, 2021

The Ontario government has declared a third state of emergency related to the COVID-19 pandemic, which took effect
on April 8, 2021.

The state of emergency includes a stay-at-home order that requires citizens to stay home except for essential purposes, such as accessing grocery stores, pharmacies, health care services (including getting vaccinated), exercise, and for work that cannot be done remotely.

Health care services, such as optometry, are not included in this new order and optometrists continue to provide care across Ontario while following the College’s COVID-19 Infection Prevention and Control guidance, as well as the Ministry of Health guidance.
